Bear is a powerful native totem animal. The size, strength and intelligence of Bear makes it a very desirable guide, and the fact that Bears can challenge humans in the food chain gives them a fearful power that holds an attraction across cultures and millennia.

Bear is very much a seasonal creature. The Winter hibernation of the Bear signals a need for us to return to a protected place, to sleep, dream, or at least to rest for awhile. This is deep introspection, and the power to re-dream the world anew in the spring. Bears are also famous constellations, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, which help us navigate at night. Polaris, the North Star, is also associated with the energy of Bear. So you might want the aid of Bear if you need help finding your Way in life. Bear put the "guide" into the Spirit Guide line!

Bears are also very strong and famously defensive of their young. For this reason they are a totem for protection in general, but protection for children in particular. Many U.S. citizens had a Teddy Bear which we clung to as children, counting on it to defend us from physical and spiritual dangers of all sorts. As such, Bear is a spirit guide held in common for most Americans.

This oil is musky, earthy, rich and wild. The Bear-brown color is given to it by essential oil of mushrooms, a favored food of Bears. A potion for Polar Bear would be a bit different, so contact me if you need this variation.

Bear is an Elemental Animal of Earth, having little of the other Elements and partakes of the Planetary energy of Saturday. Bear is potioned on Saturdays when the Moon is waning.

For other potions for protection, see my blog article on magick of protection.

Natural Magick Spirit Guide oils are made with reverence and research to be pleasing devotional blends for the animals or beings they are named for. I research legend and lore, and try to use oils of plants that represent the guide, what it does and what it smells like. The Natural Magick process of using planetary and elemental influences, correspondence, and high quality ingredients is especially appropriate for invoking the nature of your guide.

Spirit Guide oils are not made as fakey perfumes with marketable names. Fox really does smell wild and clever, Bear is somber and impressive, Angel is ethereal and bright, Dragon smells like smoke and scales.

Anoint yourself to attune to your totem, or pour into offering bowls or aromatherapy lamps, or anoint statues or fetish objects. These oils are in beautiful round 1/2 ounce bottles, blended in 100% coconut and/or jojoba oil, so with any care they should last a very long time. They are priced according to the ingredients most resembling the guide so named.
